Why Fall is Every Girl’s Favourite Season, Ever

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

We all know that age old saying: pumpkin-spice and everything nice, that’s what girls are made of. Okay…maybe it didn’t go exactly like that, but we all know that it should have. Fall is upon us and we’re all filled with those familiar feelings of nostalgia, happiness, and excitement that come with it. Now some of you may be wondering, “What’s to love about fall anyway? Everything’s dying and it’s getting colder, who likes that?” Well, my friends, we’re about to tell you!

The Changing of the Leaves

Everyone knows fall foliage is as good as it gets when it come to scenery. The familiar green leaves of spring and summer are replaced by a mosaic of red, yellow, and orange, giving life a crisp and cozier feel, despite the dropping temperature. The changing of the leaves is the first sign that fall is finally here, inspiring giddy excitement within every girl’s heart. It also looks awesome on your Instagram feed!

Sweater Weather

The only thing girls love more than a great summer outfit is a perfect fall outfit. Sweater weather is, in fact, better weather, and the dropping temperatures will give you the perfect opportunity to bust out that new sweater you’ve been dying to wear all summer! Trade in your high-waist shorts and crop tops for leggings and cozy oversized sweaters, and your sunglasses for trendy scarves and chunky socks.

Candles

Fall brings out the inner candle addict in everyone, especially us ladies. The combination of muted light and fragrant aromas is enough to make anyone bust open their wallets (and their budgets). With the return of cult classic scents like “Pumpkin pie” and “Apple pie”, it’s the perfect time to swing by your local home decor shop and pick up a few

Booties, Booties Everywhere

Booties are basically the holy grail of fall footwear. They’re stylish, comfortable, and versatile, all in one. Whether they’re paired with a chic sweater dress or your favourite pair of jeans, they just work. Bringing back your favourite pair of booties for the fall brings about the same feeling as being reunited with your long lost best friend after a long year.

Thanksgiving

Time off school, family gatherings, and home cooked meals spell the perfect holiday. Thanksgiving spirit is contagious and everyone has something to look forward to, whether it’s quality time with your family, the big dinner, or just a break from class. The Thanksgiving festivities couldn’t come faster this fall!

Halloween

What was once a time to dress up as your favourite Disney princess and go trick-or-treating with your parents has turned into a wonderful excuse to eat excessive amounts of candy, watch your favourite scary movies, drink an unruly amount of alcohol, and dress up like some kind of animal (probably a cat). Hallo-week includes everything us university gals love all in one: costumes, cocktails, and chocolate.

Mo-vember

Beards, beards, and more beards . Need I say more?

Starbucks’ Fall Menu

A moment anticipated by every girl, at every campus across North America: the return of Starbucks’ fall menu! Fall-flavoured drinks galore, including the salted caramel mocha, the infamous pumpkin spice latte, and the newest addition, the toasted graham latte. Not to mention the wide array of fall baked goods begging to be eaten. Pumpkin shaped, pumpkin flavoured, pumpkin everything: who could want more?

With so many things to look forward to, it’s no wonder us girls are always brimming with excitement this time of year. Now that we’ve shed some light on the secret of the “fall frenzy” we experience every year, the next time someone asks, “What’s so great about fall? you’re armed with the perfect answer!
