Disney has come out with so many good movies over the years, so it was hard to narrow down my list of favourites, but these are my top seven Disney Channel Originals.

7. Princess Protection Program

The main reason I love this movie is because it has both Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato in it. I also just love the plot of a princess having to blend in as a regular high school girl. This movie does give me quite a bit of second-hand embarrassment, but it’s worth it to see the friendship that develops between the two main characters, Carter and Rosie.

6. Girl vs. Monster

This is probably a hot take, but this is one of my favourite Halloween movies to watch. Skylar gets her whole world turned upside-down when she discovers her parents are monster hunters after accidentally releasing all the monsters that her parents have captured. She then must work with her friends to recapture all the monsters and save her parents, all while trying to get over her newfound fear. Plus, the songs from this movie are absolute bops.

5. Lemonade Mouth

When our five main characters meet at detention, they all discover their love for music and end up creating their own band, Lemonade Mouth. If I’m being honest, I don’t really remember the plot of this movie, but that doesn’t matter because the best part of this movie is obviously the songs. This movie just has banger after banger and because of that, it secures its spot on this list.

4. Descendants

I’m a big fan of the original animated Disney princess movies, so when this movie first came out and I heard it was about the children of all the original Disney characters, I was ecstatic. I rewatch all these movies at least once a year because I’m straight-up obsessed with them. But, even if you aren’t a fan of the plot, you should watch it just for the outfits and the songs alone.

3. Starstruck

I absolutely love everything about this movie, including the songs, the adventure aspect and the romance. Did I mention the songs? Hero is such a banger and lives on repeat every time I remember it exists. The plot is about a small-town girl, Jess, who meets pop star Christopher Wilde. They go on this fun adventure around Hollywood trying to avoid the paparazzi and obviously a romance between the two characters develops. What more could I possibly ask for in a movie?

2.  Teen Beach Movie

I can still remember where I was when this movie premiered and how excited I was to watch it. I absolutely love the plot, the casting, the outfits and, of course, the songs. Brady and Mack are surfing when they accidentally end up inside of their favourite movie. They then must make sure the movie proceeds perfectly to find their way back home. Honestly, it’s just perfection and great vibes all around.

1. Cloud 9

This movie will forever have me in a chokehold. Literally, everything about it is perfection to me. The movie starts with Kayla being kicked off her snowboarding team due to an accident, but it’s really just because she isn’t good enough for the team. Ouch. But then she spends the rest of the movie practicing and working hard to make her snowboarding dreams come true with the help of ex-snowboarder, Will. I love the romance and all the side characters, but most importantly I love how the movie shows that when you work hard for something, you can achieve your goals. Now that I’ve written all these out, I’m seeing the common theme that most of these are on here because of the songs. Either way, I stand by this list because these are all movies that I’ll constantly rewatch.
