The Secret Society at Laurier That No One Knows About

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Laurier’s very own secret society is a faculty-based association that depends on your grades entering first year. When individuals are in grade twelve and accepting a program in the Faculty of Arts at Laurier, they may receive an application from this association.

It all begins with an invitation to a high achievers reception during the March break open house. If arts applicants to Laurier have a high enough average, they will be invited to this elite event. The reception is run by students currently in the society, as well as arts professors, advisors and the Dean of Students (Arts). The event is thrown to illustrate what the arts have to offer for high-achieving applicants.

Next, once students accept Laurier, they will receive their special application. But here’s the catch…individuals must have an average of at least 90 percent!

So I guess you are all sitting on the edge of your seats, holding popcorn and desperately waiting to hear what the society is! Well, it is Laurier Arts Scholars, an elite club for high achieving arts students that can only be accessed with a high secondary school average.

The club’s mission is to support high achieving arts students with like-minded individuals and professors that care. The association runs secret socials and events that focus on high achievement and keeping that status throughout each scholar’s university career. For instance, events held throughout the year include panels to learn from upper-year students and receptions that cement arts bonds. Finally, the presidential team is picked through a secret election within the club!

So, did you make the cut? Are you a part of this elite group?
