An Open Letter to My College Friends as We Graduate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wilfrid Laurier chapter.

Well here we are on the verge of graduation, a little emotional, a lot of scared, and almost ready to take on the world. It’s been a crazy four years, and deep down, I know none of us are ready for it to end. You’ve all given me memories to last a lifetime and through all the trials and triumphs, I wouldn’t have wanted to share these past four years with anyone else. You’ve all helped me turned a school into a home and for that, I want to thank you. From nights in the library that we never thought would end, to homecoming, St. Patrick’s Day, and every messy, fabulous and questionable day in between, we made it. It literally took blood, sweat and (a lot) of tears to get us to the point we are at today, and I am so happy that I had such a wonderful team of people beside me as I conquered student life. We have lived so many important moments together and I will forever cherish the memories we made. No matter how large or small our friendship has been over the past four years, I want to say thank you.

To my roommates, thank you for everything. Thank you for loving me through every mistake, for holding my hair when I spent the night over a toilet bowl, for always giving the best advice, for never saying no when I suggest junk food, for letting me cry in your beds, for the dance parties, the endless laughs, for sharing your clothes, makeup, recipes, notes, families, intelligence and love, but most importantly for being the sisters I always wanted. I love you guys.

We made our mark and built a family in a place that will never be the same once we leave. There will be new students, new bars, new buildings, and new professors. But our memories will never change; our spirit and the love we have for each other and this school will forever linger in our hearts. Graduation isn’t the end…it’s the beginning. We will take on the real world fearfully and wonderfully with the same ambition we started university with. As we prepare for graduation and think about what our future may hold, I want you all to know how proud I am of the people you are. I know you will all go on to do great things and please never forget you will always have a friend in me (Disney quote, I had too). I mean, let’s be real, if we can make it through the crop top and skater skirt phase gracefully, we can make it through anything!

Brooklyn Ramsey, how do I even begin to explain Brooklyn Ramsey? She has two Fendi purses and silver Lexus. Her hair is insured for 10 thousand dollars, and I hear she does car commercials…in Japan. Her favourite movie is Varsity Blues and one time she met John Stamos on a plane and he told her she was pretty. Brooklyn aspires to be a cool mom and make sure Gretchen never lets "fetch" happen.

You will typically see me with a large cup of tea and browsing social media under the fairy lights and reading up on my favourite lady bosses (Mindy Kaling let me be you please). Also my trivia regarding superheroes is endless. I have more music than time to listen to and someone definitely should consider taking away my blogging privileges. My love for pop culture is limitless and Netflix is the true MVP in my opinion. Contributor writer for HerCampus Laurier Stalk me and let's be friends here: Insta & Twitter: webofem
