Like most people, I too have favourite movie and t.v. characters. Over time though, some have turned into my comfort characters. Now, you may be wondering what a comfort character is. Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like, a character that brings comfort to someone. Throughout the years I have gathered a wide range of comfort characters that I always find myself going back to watch. Here is the list of my top three favourite comfort characters.

Lexie Grey

My all-time favourite comfort character is from the popular t.v. show Grey’s Anatomy. While her last name is in the title of the show, she is not the main character. Lexie Grey, the younger sister of Meredith Grey, has to be one of my favourite comfort characters for a couple of reasons. First, I relate to her in a lot of ways. Lexie has always been a kind and caring friend. She is always there for everyone and puts their needs before hers. I, too, do the same thing and feel like I learned a lot from her. Secondly, her character development in the show was perfect. While she may have started as Meredith’s little sister, she quickly became a fan favourite and made a name for herself. While her time on the show was cut short, the seasons she appeared in will always be my favourite.

Marcus Baker

While Ginny and Gegoria is a relatively new series, I am in love with Marcus Baker. During the first season of Ginny and Gegoria, Marcus didn’t get enough screen time. It was hard to make any judgements about him as he had very little character development. Based on his limited screen time, it was evident that he was funny and didn’t stand for others’ drama. He was quiet and reserved but was one of the only people who were there for Ginny when she needed someone. In the second season, we got to see more of Marcus’ true personality. The one thing I liked about this season was that they didn’t shy away from mental health and showed it in several ways. We got to see the real side of Marcus, and that’s what I love about his character. While I can personally relate to Marcus on many levels, his struggles with mental health are very real to me, which is why I find his character comforting.

Caroline Forbes

The last character on my top three favourite comfort characters list is Caroline Forbes from the Vampire Diaries. Now, if you had asked me the first time I watched the show if I would end up loving Caroline, I would probably have called you crazy. When I first watched the show, I hated her character. I found her character to be needy. It wasn’t until I watched the show for a second time that I realized we had much in common. Like Caroline, my friends tend to exclude me from things and I often feel very alone. Caroline also is a powerful woman, and who doesn’t love a powerful and fierce role model? When I was younger, I was inspired to be just like Caroline.

Overall, I have a lot more characters that I also consider to be my comfort characters, but these three mean a lot to me. They each have their own reasons why they are important to me but I am glad I was able to discover these characters.
