This fun tradition started early at Her Campus, by painting cute Valentine’s Day candles as seen on Pinterest. Some ideas I have for events featuring Valentine’s Day are baking, candle making, decorating, cocktails and picnics.

Candles

You can make these candles in a few ways, such as using a long drip candle or the small IKEA candles. Either way, painting cute designs is a fun way to get to know your friends. In addition, these candles make excellent gifts as they’re personal and homemade. To make these, all you need are candles, water paint, friends and lots of fun!

Baking

Baking is fun all year-round but especially when you’re with your friends, especially if one of them knows how to bake! Some ideas I have are sugar cookies, vintage cake designs and cake pops. Sugar cookies are very standard and the only decorating you have to do is the icing on top. Making a cake, especially one as seen on Pinterest, can be more difficult with the different icings as well as the lettering. That is why I suggested cake pops; they’re made with cake and icing, so if the cake doesn’t turn out how you want it to, you could always mix it up and make cake pops out of it, which is a fun little spin on the possibility of disaster.

Decorating

Decorating anything is a time-consuming task, but it’s a great way to change the atmosphere into a more inviting setting. Putting up balloons, streamers and even tablecloths can help set the vibe. The most important thing about decorating is the little pink bows that are necessary in this year’s Valentine’s Day party. In addition, adding some fresh flowers to any party or get-together can set the mood for a fun time.

Cocktails

Cocktails or mocktails are a fun way to get people up and moving. Some ideas I have regarding Valentine’s Day are edible glitter, strawberries and even glitter around the glass. It’s not the drink itself that makes it fun, but the aesthetic and who you share it with. Adding something different, like pink smoothies in the morning or even just strawberries on a skewer, will add a touch of dedication and appreciation to every drink you make.

Picnics

Picnics are a great way to celebrate Galentine’s Day, whether it’s outside or on the floor in your apartment because, even though the weather is getting nicer, it’s not nice enough to enjoy cold drinks outside. Sitting by the fire and enjoying snack-sized foods is a great way to socialize and is a good spin on the traditional picnic. Some ideas I have for this that I’ve seen on Pinterest are cutting a cake with a wine glass, making chocolate covered strawberries and baking cookies embedded with pink, white and red sprinkles.
