Meet Luca- the not so average frat guy. If he’s not icebreaking for first years during O-Week you can find him playing intramurals, or helping students as an SOS Coordinator!

Tell us what you’ve been involved in since coming to Laurier?
Since my first semester at Laurier, I really wanted to meet more people and expand my social network. So when an opportunity to join a Fraternity came up, I didn’t hesitate to join. Since then I have taken on four positions within Sigma Chi – currently serving as treasurer.
I have also been an Icebreaker for two years in a row now (three times for Blue – #Uknighted) and it has given me some of my best experiences here.
I also joined SOS (Students Offering Support) last year as a business development executive and am returning this year as a course coordinator. I’ve also been very fortunate to land a position at PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) during my co-op term and have taken the position as one of the campus ambassadors here at Laurier.
Last but not least, I can’t forget about intramurals. You can find me on alumni field playing soccer or in the AC playing volleyball every fall!
You’re involved in a wide variety of activities here at Laurier! What’s it like juggling all of these?
It gets pretty crazy at times, but that’s what I love. I’m the kind of person that enjoys staying busy… Although this year I may have taken on more than I should have.
Cats or Dogs?
Dogs. No question.
Approach to picking up girls?
I try confidently walking up with a bad joke. Half the time I’m laughing at my own joke so I think a lot of girls continue the conversation out of pity.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I usually only cut my hair twice a year. My hair dresser isn’t too pleased about my life choices but I like to mix things up.
Most random compliment you’ve ever received?
“Great bone structure” – I was really taken off guard.
What is the weirdest thing you find attractive in a person?
I wouldn’t call it weird, but I love a girl who is confident and knows what she wants (and isn’t afraid to say it).
What advice would you give your first year self?
Don’t hesitate to get involved and try new things! I wouldn’t change a thing from all the experiences I’ve gained by volunteering. Couldn’t imagine being at any other school.
With this spirit of Halloween being this weekend what’s your last minute go to costume?
As disappointing as it is, most third year accounting students won’t be going out this Halloween, but my costume would have been Aladdin (I’ve heard I look like him).
Favourite drunk food?
The go-to has always got to be Burrito Boyz.
If you were a girl for the day what would you look like and what would you do?
Awkwardly enough I’d probably look like my sister… And I would probably fulfill my dream of going to a Nick Jonas concert and fan-girling pretty hard without getting judged.
Thanks for chatting with us Luca, and we look forward to seeing what else you accomphlish here at Laurier!
