Describe yourself in three words.

I’m energetic, dedicated, and unconventional!

What are you involved in on campus?

I’m fortunate enough to be the current Chapter President of Alpha Phi Women’s Fraternity here at Laurier. Alpha Phi is the largest Greek organization on our campus, and we’re always looking to recruit new members who strive for constant character development and academic success. Being a part of this organization has become such a huge part of my life, because it’s so much more than just a club; it’s a lifetime support system, a group of study buddies, a professional network, and a family away from home.

What has been your greatest accomplishment at Laurier so far?

It’s not so much an accomplishment as it is just something I’m really appreciative of, but I’m really glad to still be close with my circle of friends from first and second years; when I consider my Laurier experience to really have begun. University is an enormous transition, so it’s so important to have people there to guide you through it and grow alongside you. I’m incredibly grateful to have met and kept some of the most inspiring people by my side.  When I look back on how far we’ve come and how much we’ve all changed, I’m proud to know that we can share our experiences and accomplishments with one another.

What is your passion?

I’ve come to know myself a lot better recently through work and volunteering, and have realized that I really, really, really, love connecting with others and being someone that people feel comfortable talking to. I’ve spent the past two summers working in Client Services at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, and can honestly say that the feeling of making someone even a little more at ease with such a trying situation, is the most authentic form of happiness that I couldn’t imagine finding anywhere else.

Dream job: I’d love to work for B-Corporation like Etsy to promote sustainable businesses and a people-powered marketplace. Plus, being able to craft for a living would be such a sweet life!

Describe something on your bucket list.

I really want to buy a boat and just be on the water all day long. I lived in Kingston when I was younger and have spent some of my favourite moments by the lake – it’s where I’m happiest.

What is your spirit animal and why?

I think I would really get along as a dolphin. They’re so social and always seem happy, plus they’re super loud and I’m kind of like that too. And swift. I’m super swift.

Favorite Waterloo eats:  I don’t think there’s anything in this world that could make me as happy as a smoked salmon sandwich from Vincenzo’s.

Favourite body part: I really like my cheeks… the ones on my face!

Hidden talent: I’m a ridiculously good eater. No matter what time of day it is, I’m always in the mood for food. Does that count?

What’s one piece of advice that you would give to first year Golden Hawks?

I can’t stress enough how much better life gets the minute you decide to go out and get involved in something you’re really passionate about! Seriously, getting involved with Alpha Phi and House Council in my first year were two of the best decisions I’ve ever made because I was exposed to some amazing people I would never have known otherwise. There’s also a lot to be said about the transferable skills that you gain by being a part of a team and learning to work with all sorts of people. Laurier is such a diverse community, and by jumping right into it, you’ll never feel alone!

Another thing I would recommend to new Golden Hawks is to be careful with that OneCard money. The Freshman 15 is so real that I gained it twice over and that wasn’t fun for anyone… except the servers at Wilf’s!
