What is at the top of your bucket list right now?

I’m heading to New York this November, I would LOVE to catch the “Humans of New York” photographer in action! I’d snag a pic and ask them to share one of their stories. I see them as a beanie wearing, bearded man who’s got a Nikon hanging off his shoulder! But for the sake of my roommates, it would also be awesome to learn how to sing!

What are you binge-watching?

Unfortunately Midterm season has put me on a Netflix cleanse. I watch Million Dollar Listing religiously, and recently I finished season 4 of Downton Abby. I think Dan Stevens is drop-dead handsome and the accents are addicting. If you haven’t seen Downton Abby stop reading and start watching!!

What song is stuck in your head?

Ignition Remix by R Kelly. My all time favourite song and always in my head!

What are you involved with on campus?

I have been very lucky to be involved in many different clubs and councils at Laurier so far. This year I am a veteran member of yours truly, Her Campus Laurier on Marketing and Events. I am also the Social Media Specialist for E-Business Laurier; if you haven’t seen me walking around campus wearing an EBL shirt and selfie stick then come find me! I am also rookie member of the fabulous intermural volleyball team “Sets Squad”, come cheer us on Wednesdays 11pm, AC! Lastly I hope to participate in a service trip to Guyana this Winter Reading Week, with Lauriers Habitat for Humanity!!

What has been the most rewarding experience through that club?

When I first joined E- Business Laurier it was a club that has only been around for a couple of years. I found this really exciting because it’s intimidating to start a club when the ones you’re surround by are well established and respected. Working with an incredible team has definitely been inspiring, they work extremely hard to make sure EBL has a place in the Laurier community. This year at the Get Involved Fair it was amazing to be booting next to some of the clubs we are inspired by. The most rewarding part was having enthusiastic students sign up then seeing them attend our events! The hard work definitely pays off.

What made you choose Laurier?

I wish I had an exciting answer for this… Laurier was one of my top Ontario choices because of the program. Originally I had planned to attend the University of Saint Andrews in Scotland, but my sisters talked some sense into me to stay close to home during my first year. Visiting one of my sisters who also goes here, she made sure to show me a good time and then I was hooked. The small campus is amazing and everyone is so spirited!!

What would you tell your first-year self?

Drink more coffee!! First year is exciting and you need to keep up with it! Take all the chances you have to meet people and go outside of your comfort zone. Sign up for a club that you don’t know anything about. I would remind myself to keep an open mind, everyone from all walks of life are apart of this amazing community, and you need to respect peoples opinions and beliefs. Also, THE DINING HALL HAS TAKE OUT!! This would have been a lifesaver for exam season and would have saved me hours on people watching! Order online and then just pick it up!

Who would play you in a movie/biopic?

Mindy Kaling for sure!! Let’s all just admit that everyone would choose her. We share the same respect for food and fashion and her humour is insanely clever. She’s the kind of gal that says it how it is and has worked very hard to get to where she is!

What drives you nuts?

When I can hear others or myself chewing! Apparently Google says it it’s a real thing called “Misophonia”? I love to snack when I study and the concourse has the perfect level of noise where I can’t hear any crunching sounds. Also when people cancel plans, I am guilty of this on numerous occasions but I’m trying to work on my commitment!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?

“Introduce yourself”. My family taught me you have nothing to lose by saying hello!

What is your favourite undergrad memory?

Lots of my favourite undergrad memories usually start with “Remember that time on Ezra…?” I can’t go into detail about many of them but when you have a chance, head to Ezra with your friends and you’ll see what I mean.

What is your recipe for success?

Eggs Benedict and coffee for breakfast (fancy breakfast = fancy day) + Laughter + Go to lecture (no you won’t actually “read the slides later”) + Smiling (people will approach you) + Hanging around positive, motivated people = The good life

What is your favourite quote to live by?

My candid Disney quote to follow is: “Ohana means family, family means no one gets left behind or forgotten”- Lilo and Stitch. University is such a unique experience for everyone and it has opened my eyes to how important family is. If someone is there for you kin or not, an unspoken act of respect and care has been shown, that is really important.

My other quote to live by is: “No one can make you fee inferior without your consent”- Eleanor Roosvelt. Everyone has their own things going on, don’t let others get in your way of feeling great and being the best person you can be!

Erin's top two pastimes would definitely have to be binge-watching tv shows, and binge-eating spicy salmon maki rolls. While both may sound incredibly basic, they bring her ultimate happiness.

Wilfrid Laurier

You will typically see me with a large cup of tea and browsing social media under the fairy lights and reading up on my favourite lady bosses (Mindy Kaling let me be you please). Also my trivia regarding superheroes is endless. I have more music than time to listen to and someone definitely should consider taking away my blogging privileges. My love for pop culture is limitless and Netflix is the true MVP in my opinion. Contributor writer for HerCampus Laurier Stalk me and let's be friends here: Insta & Twitter: webofem
