Celebrate. Remember. Fight Back.
On Saturday the 23rd of March, our fellow students camped out in the campus hub, the UCC, to raise awareness about cancer and raise funds to search for a cure. In the spirit of fighting back, western students came together for a night of remembrance, togetherness and good times.

The event kicked off with an opening ceremony at 7pm which included busting out some warm up moves with Ann Hambley and the first lap of the night, the survivor lap. Brave survivors opened up the event by sharing their touching stories about how they overcame cancer and why it is so important for events like this to continue. At 11pm there was a memorable luminary ceremony to remember those that Relay is dedicated to.

The night progressed with students participating in various activities such as guitar hero, karaoke, indoor sports, games, free movies at western film and overall bonding with each other. This year, Western managed to raise a sum of $52,105.35 to donate to the Canadian Cancer Societyā€™s program to fund cancer research. If you havenā€™t participated yet, definitely add this unique event for a good cause to your bucket list!

Cancer is so limited.
It cannot cripple love.
It cannot shatter hope.
It cannot corrode faith.
It cannot destroy peace.
It cannot kill friendships.
It cannot suppress memories.
It cannot silence courage.
It cannot invade the soul.
It cannot steal eternal life.
It cannot conquer the spirit.
Cancer is so limited.
