An Open Letter To The Person Who Never Stopped Believing In Me…

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Western chapter.

To my guardian angel, my shoulder to cry on, and the person who was there for me when no one else was:

While I could write a thousand cliché statements comparing you to everything from a saint to the sunshine, instead, I’ll simply tell you the truth. The truth is, although I could have survived this life without you, I am so thankful that I didn’t have to.

The truth is, you make my bad days good and my good days better. You continuously push me to be the best version of myself regardless of my personal reservations and have stuck with me through many of my irresponsible questionable decisions. You talk me up when I need a boost, talk me down when I’m overwhelmed, talk over me when I need to be calmed, and talk about me in the kindest of words. More importantly, in addition to lending me your voice, you never fail to lend me your ears. Even on the days when my words and worries feel irrelevant and unimportant leaving my mouth, your encouragement prevails.

Through my good, bad and downright ugly days, you have continued to support me when I felt like I had no one else. Between dusting off my spirits after a hard loss and cheering me on from the audience in my finest hours, as others have parted from my life, you have always stayed.

Although there are not enough words to convey how thankful I am for your presence, I want you to know that without you, I wouldn’t be where I am today. My successes are equally yours. That the day I finally make it, yours will be the first name I owe my thanks.

I know I don’t say it nearly enough, but from the bottom of my heart—thank you for everything. When my whole world feels as though it could stop, you are always there to keep me going. When my heart feels as though it is scattered across the floor, you are always there to pick up the pieces. When push comes to shove, I know you’ll always have my back.

Without you, I wouldn’t be me.

Thank you for everything.

Love Always,

Me
