Five Comfort Movies to Watch If Your Stressed

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at West Chester chapter.

Everyone experiences stressors in their lives. Everyone of us has a way to cope with that stress. One of my favorite coping skills is watching movies. So, here are some of my favorite comfort movies to watch that help relieve stress.

Christopher Robin (2018)

This movie is a special one.  It is such a sweet film with an impactful message about reconnecting with your childhood and not taking life too seriously. The animation was adorable plus amazing performances by Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt’s. If you are in a sadder mood or want to heal your inner child and play in the hundred-acre woods again, this film is for you.

Bambi (1942)

I know what you’re thinking…,“Bambi’s mother dies!” So just how is this movie comforting? The film is soft and the animation is aesthetically pleasing. If you’re feeling overwhelmed and need to chill, this movie is a good one to watch. The music is melodic and the film’s variety of animation pieces can fit any vibe you are feeling. The aesthetic of all four seasons in the film leaves something for you to enjoy no matter if it is fall, winter, spring, or summer. The film is great to put on if you want to relax and watch beautiful scenes of nature.

Twilight (2008)

Rainy Day? Staying in? Feeling a particular disdain for garlic? The Twilight Saga should be on your to watch list. This iconic, enticing love story might leave you cringing at some parts, but will keep  you on the edge of your seat waiting  to see what happens next in the beautiful town of  Forks, Washington. Will you be team Edward or team Jacob? If you haven’t seen Twilight yet, where the hell have you been loca?

Encanto (2021)

In every arsenal of comfort films there has to be some Disney films. One of the best is Encanto. This film has a satisfying and sweet ending. It has a beautiful representation of Colombian culture and is fantastically created. Be prepared to sing, laugh, and cry to this classic Disney film.

The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl (2005)

This cinematic masterpiece should be on every confort movie list. This movie is fun, hilarious, and honestly a fever dream in the best way possible. Remember to dream, dream, dream. Maybe this  film will inspire you to start a dream journal.
