4 fun Halloween activities you have to try this month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Waterloo chapter.

It’s that time of year again! The leaves are falling, the days are getting shorter, and there are pumpkins everywhere you go. If you’re looking for some Halloween-themed activities to get you in the mood this month, here are a few ideas!

  1. Go thrifting for your costume

I use anything as an excuse to go thrifting, and Halloween costume shopping is definitely a great one! It’s a cheap, affordable way to find a cute costume while also (hopefully) finding some other everyday outfits, too. Plus, it’s nice to get out of your room and out with your friends!

  1. Carve/paint a pumpkin

This might be pretty obvious, but go pick out a pumpkin! There are lots of places in Waterloo where you can go, and then you can head back home and carve it up. A less-messy alternative version is to paint your pumpkin! This can be cute and just as fun, without all the cleanup.

  1. Put on some spooky movies and eat Halloween candy

Now is the perfect time of year to watch spooky movies, such as Coraline, Hocus Pocus (including the new one), and The Nightmare Before Christmas! While watching your favourite scary movies, bring out some candy or Halloween cookies, and enjoy!

  1. Visit a haunted house

A great way to get out of the school mindset is to go to a haunted house! This is such a fun thing to do with your friends and will definitely make you laugh and scream, in a good way.

Hopefully, you have a chance to try out at least one of these activities this month — take a break from school and eat some candy! Have a happy Halloween!
