The Life-Changing Rule You Need for Your Skincare Routine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Washington chapter.

The 60 Second Rule. If your skin has not-so-soft texture, breakouts for literally no reason, or extremely noticeable pores, then you might be missing the 60 second rule in your skincare routine.

Well, what is it?

The 60 second rule is cleansing your face (with your fingers) for 60 seconds. Seems like a no-brainer right? You’d be surprised, many of us go through our face-cleansing process without a thought, usually lasting 15 seconds max. Making sure it is a minute long allows the ingredients in the cleanser to actually work. I know, mind = blown.

According to Esthetician and Skin Specialist @LABeautyologist (LABeautyologist.com), those 60 seconds allow your cleanser to soften the skin enough to dissolve sebum blockages better. As a result, your skin’s texture and overall evenness will improve. Who knew?

Here are a few thoughts from women that have tried the 60 second rule.

Worth a try, right?
