6 Stages Every Indecisive Person Goes Through When Deciding Where to Eat

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wash U chapter.

1. The “Visualizing the Experience” Stage

What would I be more excited to see right in front of me at this very moment? A large, creamy bowl of guacamole with a dash of cilantro and a side of crispy tortilla chips? Or a perfectly grilled medium-rare steak atop a bed of garlicky, buttery mashed potatoes? THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS.

2. The “Testing the Waters” Stage

Texting a list of possible restaurants to your friends, praying one of them will reply with an answer. But alas, you usually receive a “don’t care, up to you” response. Aaaaand we’re back to the drawing board.

3. The “Flipping a Coin” Stage

Honestly, half the battle in this stage is finding a coin to begin with in the deep, dark crevices of your wallet.

4. The “Being Slightly Sad When the Coin Tells You To Go Somewhere, Even Though Your Heart Truly Aches For the Other” Stage

Or, in ~psychology~ terms: Post-Decision Dissonance. What if I regret it? Will I be able to live with myself?

5. The “Final Decision” Stage

Relief. Just so much relief.

6. The “Feast” Stage

Congrats!!!!! You decided!! It’s time to reward yourself by indulging in the joy, excessively stuffing your face with the deliciousness, and never looking back. #noragrets
