Every year, girls feel the pressure to find a sexy costume that will get the boys drooling and the girls wishing that they had thought of that idea. That’s problem number one. Problem number two, costumes can be expensive and let’s be honest, as college students we can’t be spending a whole lot of money on a costume that we are going to wear once. So what do we do? Get creative! Check out these five ideas to stay on that low budget while still looking amazing.
#1) Get a group of friends and be robbers.
What you need:
1) All black (tight black dress, skirt, or whatever you’re feeling)
2) Find some black paper and string, cut out a mask and tie it with string.
3) Find a friend who owns a deep red lipstick or buy a cheap one at Walgreens or Target.
4) Buy a water gun
#2) Get a group of friends and be the rainbow. This is really easy and looks really cool if everyone gets into it.
What you need:
1) Delegate a color to each person and search around and find cool articles of clothing in that color. (i.e. spandex, crop tops, tights, high socks)
2) Buy some hairspray or colored make up and either color your hair or your lips.
#3) Be the Rugrats. As 90’s babies we all grew up watching Tommy Pickles and Chuckie Finster. So why not devote a costume to them?
For Tommy: Find spandex and a blue crop top. If you really want to get into the role, go to Walgreens or Target and buy a baby bottle, sippy cup, or pacifier.
For Chuckie: Find a pair of square glasses or cut out paper glasses from some purple paper. Find a blue crop top and if you’re feeling artsy try and draw the symbol on Chuckie’s shirt and just tape it on. Finally, find some green spandex or shorts.
#4) Be a greek goddess.
What you need:
1) A gold headband to wear on your forehead
2) A white or gold dress or skirt
3) Some aviator sandals or wedges
4) If available, wear a cuff bracelet or any other gold jewelry.
#5) Where’s Waldo. If you own a lot of striped shirts, then this is the costume for you.
What you need:
1) A red and white striped shirt
2) A red beanie (hat)
3) A pair of glasses
