Best Cafés in Leamington Spa

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Warwick chapter.

So you’ve made the big move off campus and you’re already missing the Luxury Hot Chocolates at Curiosotea, or perhaps you’re just returning and looking to make the most of Leamington Spa before you graduate. Fear not, whether you’re looking to cure a hangover with a friend, or a quiet place to study, HCW has compiled the best places to go for coffee.

Rosie’s Vintage Tea Shop, 23 Livery Street, Regent Court

If you were a fan of Curiosotea when you lived on campus, you’ll die for Rosie’s Vintage Tea Shop. The décor is almost blindingly quaint, with a strict baby pink, baby blue and white colour scheme. This is the kind of place you take your mum when she comes to visit as a Thank You for cleaning your disgusting student kitchen. Located on ‘that nice bit where Nandos is’, Rosie’s has an outdoor space where, weather permitting, an attractive girl will serve you ice cream from a pink wooden cart.

HCW recommends: Fruit Smoothie (served in an Insta-worthy mason jar) and a toastie/baked potato.

Bandstand Tea Rooms, 23 Dormer Place

10/10 Vanilla Lattes and they do to-go as well. The Bandstand Tea rooms has a similar vibe to Rosie’s, if a little more toned down, and offers views over, well, the Bandstand. A hit for cream teas if that’s your thing. Meet your friend who lives at the complete opposite end of town from you here because it’s probably exactly halfway.

HCW recommends: Vanilla latte, cheesecake.

Spa Town Coffee, 94 Warwick Street

Don’t be intimidated by the incredible artsy interior, Spa Town Coffee gets the top spot for friendliest staff who are keen to help you choose from the different options of coffee blends available. The interior is clean, bright and minimalist, allowing you to appreciate the local art which hangs on every wall. This plus free WiFi means Spa Town Coffee fills up pretty quickly with students during the summer as it’s a perfect place to revise – particularly if you’re a humanities student.

HCW recommends: leaving it to the staff to help you!

The Aviary Café, Jephson Gardens

Arguably the most aesthetically pleasing of the list, The Aviary Café is located right in the middle of the pride and joy of Leamington Spa, Jephson Gardens. So named because it’s a small building made almost entirely of glass with bird cages as decoration inside. All the wonderful food is laid out on a wooden counter and the staff are always lovely even when it gets very busy. A word of caution, as of writing this article The Aviary Café does not currently accept card payments so make sure you visit an ATM before you go!

HCW recommends: Croissant, Flat White.

Coffee Box, 7 Clemens Street

If you’re a South Leamingtonian you’ve probably already been here. Having recently moved a little further up Clemens Street, the Coffee Box is even more vibrant and friendly than it was before. Specialising in Vegetarian and Vegan food, it really knows its student audience and often offers discounts via it’s Facebook page so be sure to give them a like! As a very family friendly outlet, it can often be a bit rammed with small children on a weekend but with free WiFi it’s a great place to get some work done during the week.

HCW recommends: Sourdough toast, Banana Bread, Vegetarian All-In Breakfast.

Coffee Architects, 39 Warwick Street

This is it, the big one. When students make sure they have the time to go get a coffee in the morning before they get on the U1 you know it must be good. Great coffee, great music, AMAZING FOOD, and a relaxed, bright interior with a pretty outdoor space, Coffee Architects has every reason to be a Warwick Student’s favourite café in Leamington

HCW recommends: Rainbow salad, Latte, cake.
