We have all been there. It’s Sunday evening, and your room is a black hole of clothing (and who knows what else) after a weekend of putting off responsibilities. Honestly, you aren’t even sure where to begin since everything is disgusting. What’s worse: The empty pizza boxes scattered around the floor, or the fact your dirty clothing are actually sticking to the wall? Here are 3 quick things I do to start dealing with my messes.
1. Put on the yellow gloves. While I recognize this may seem a bit extra, I genuinely don’t know how people clean without wearing yellow gloves. I think picking up food, or washing dishes without gloves on is grosser than the actual old food and messy dishes. Plus, it keeps your hands from drying out, so it is a win-win situation.
2. Turn on the tunes. I absolutely can’t complete any task without music. I think I somehow focus better with music on, but aside from that, cleaning with music on can make it more fun. There is nothing like singing along with some rockin’ tunes in order to make time pass by more quickly. Music can make any menial task much more exciting.
3. Bust out the Clorox wipes. I swear by Clorox wipes. When there are unknown sticky substances, and spilled drinks all over the counter, it is best to just whip them out. Clorox wipes have been my saving grace multiple times this semester. Trying to wipe up a sticky substance without them is virtually impossible. Sometimes you just have to “take the L” and accept that cleaning products are a necessity of life.
