Her Impact: 5 Ways to Make a Difference in a Day

It’s a lazy Saturday afternoon. You’ve spent the past four days tanning, watching movies, and/or reading your favorite trashy mag. What’s next? How about taking a break from your (often monotonous) summer routine and giving back to the community around you?

Donate blood.
According to the Red Cross, only 38% of Americans are eligible to donate blood. Of those, only 8% donate. That amounts to only about 3 out of every 100 people. They need your help. Donating blood is quick, easy, and they often pass out lots of fun freebies such as snacks and t-shirts. You have the power to save a life!

Reach out to homeless veterans.
Did you know that there are roughly 106,558 homeless Veterans in the United States? Find an organization in your area where you can help provide for those who gave their own lives for your safety and freedom.

Clean up your local park with friends.
Grab a few friends, trash bags, and sunscreen and head to your local park. Get a tan and share some laughs while you help preserve nature.

Drop off toys at the local children’s hospital.
Make a child’s day by stopping by to drop off a game or a new stuffed best friend! You will not only provide them with much needed comfort but a reminder that someone cares.

Bring your favorite board game to the nursing home.
It has been proven that sincere interaction with others will add years onto your life. Imagine how lonely a nursing home could be! Go visit your local elderly and give them a few hours of your time. It will mean the world to them!
