Greeks Promoting Pro Humanitate: The 2nd Annual All Greek Campus Clean-Up

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

This Sunday afternoon, the All Greek Campus Clean-Up encompassed friends, sun and community service all-in-one! Around 1:00 on Sunday, behind Winston hall, Greeks gathered to begin scouring the campus for litter in an effort to beatify our ‘Mother-So-Dear’. This unique opportunity allowed members of all Greek organizations to come together and demonstrate the true spirit of ‘Pro Humanitate.’ Ruth Young, a member of the Panhellenic Council, explains her take on the event, stating, “I think that the All Greek Clean-Up Day is a great effort made by the Interfraterinty and Panhellenic Councils. Bringing different chapters together and taking care of our planet is a positive initiative for the Greek community!” The event has become highly popularized, as more and more Greek students aim to establish the day as tradition.

While the spring season brings an array of philanthropy benefits, the Campus Clean-Up is an event for all sororities and fraternities who share a passion for community service and helping others…including Mother Earth! Freshman Ally Kaleita quotes, “I think it’s a great way to bring the Greek community together and have fun with friends while making our campus a better environment at the same time!”

After all, for  a Sunday afternoon when Greeks could be putting off that paper or recovering from the weekend, seeing so many throw on their favorite mank and come out with their fellow Deacs to help give back to our college campus?  Seems like a pretty special event, indeed.
