Breaking Out The Boots

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Wake Forest chapter.

We all knew fall was coming when the Pumpkin Spice Latte returned to Starbucks a few weeks ago. But even then, it still felt like sandals and sundress season. Now, with Fall Break behind us, Homecoming rolling around this weekend, and the recent brisk weather, I think its safe to say that it really feels like fall. And what does every girl think of when she thinks of fall? Boots! Check out how these Wake Forest girls rock these fall-style staples.

If you want a very classic and versatile style for the fall, invest in tall equestrian style boots like Suzanne Murray’s (’17). We love how effortless the boots look when paired with jeans, a blouse, and a scarf. Suzanne says, “I love the color of these boots because they work so well everything so I can wear them all the time!” We have to agree! If you’re looking for a way to accessorize even further, layer tall socks under your boots that are just visible from the top. Free People has some great sock options that are comfy and soft, perfect for fall layering!

If you thought cowboy boots were reserved for tailgates and football games, think again! We love these cowboy boots that Molly Finegan (’16) sports to class and around campus. The detailing at the top of the boot makes these cowboy boots great for pants or leggings and even dresses. She pairs them with jeans and a sweater for a great southern spin off the fall trend!

If you’re looking for a more subtle (but equally as stylish!) type of boot, follow Ellen Lautenbach’s (’17) example and pair your leggings and sweater with booties. Ellen’s neutral suede booties add the perfect color to her outfit and balance her sweater nicely. Plus, incorporating different textures, like suede, can step up your outfit. Small, ankle high boots are such a great way to transition to a fall wardrobe.

Another great style of boot for fall is the motorcycle boot. Whether with straps, laces, or extra embellishments, the more distressed looks of motorcycle boots add some spunk to leggings, jeans, and sweaters. In all different heights and styles, motorcycle boots are a great accessory to have in your fall wardrobe this year.

Since boots are such a staple for fall you can buy them virtually anywhere, but I recommend checking out the website “Gilt” (www.Gilt.com) every now and then so you can snag a pair of expensive designer boots that they are selling for a much more reasonable price!
