Why VCU Students Should Be Taking Advantage of TimelyCare

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

A resource that VCU students have access to is TimelyCare, a virtual health service. The platform is specifically designed for college students, and included in their tuition. TimelyCare’s mission is to advocate for healthier campuses by supporting students, faculty, and staff with a variety of wellness resources.

Your access to TimelyCare as a student at VCU includes many services. One resource is TalkNow, an on-demand support service that is available at all times of the day. This connects students to mental health professionals to provide 24/7 support through concerns at any intensity. Students can also schedule mental health counseling sessions up to 12 times annually with a TimelyCare provider. Another resource is access to appointments with health coaches to discuss a variety of health habits. These include sleep habits, diet, time management, mindfulness, and goal setting. Lastly, self-care content is provided within the platform. This includes information on health and well-being topics, as well as yoga and meditation sessions. TimelyCare even offers a community forum where people can discuss and relate to each other regarding wellness.

Based on personal experience, TimelyCare is an accessible resource that is easy to navigate. The platform provides thorough information regarding the educational backgrounds and specialities of their providers. To schedule an appointment, you simply choose a professional aligned with your needs, and pick a time that works best for you. After each appointment, you receive a detailed description of what was discussed, including techniques to support your treatment. I especially find the self-care resources helpful. They include an array of educational content regarding overall wellness and helpful strategies to improve your health and wellbeing.

I wholeheartedly recommend TimelyCare, as I believe healthcare should be accessible to everyone. I commend VCU for providing this service to its campus. TimelyCare advocates for the overall health of the campus through accessibility and convenience for its students, faculty, and staff. This helpful resource is included in your tuition, so I encourage you to take advantage of what you’re paying for!

To access TimelyCare, you can visit their website or download the app. For further information or access to FAQs, visit the TimelyCare resource through VCU’s University Counseling Service.
