What’s your favorite thing about Richmond? The food. I love trying new restaurants and food. Carytown never ceases to disappoint me, there are always new restaurants opening up.

What made you choose VCU? It’s a very diverse school, there is a lot of ground-breaking research being done here, plus they paid for my schooling.

How did you become a Monster rep? I came to college to have a good time and receive an education, back in the day I used to be in a fraternity. After getting kicked out with all of my friends, for having too much fun we started the Gentlemen’s club. What started as a joke between a few of us slowly blew up. I’m good at selling an idea and sold the idea to Monster that we could do a great job representing their brand. One thing led to another and I was hired as their campus representative. After the club disbanded I kept the sponsorship.

What’s your job description? My job is to promote Monster on campus. I used to do this by throwing parties, but as you can imagine no one wants to live in a party house forever. I now usually supply monster to other people on campus for their parties. During midterm and finals week I usually bring a few cases of Monster over to the library to help fellow Rams power through their exams. Another part of my job is to send in cool promotional pictures of people with Monster. I do this by sending in pictures of people drinking Monster at parties, in the library, while just hanging out, etc.

What’s your favorite part about being a rep? My favorite part about being the campus rep is that neither my friends nor I have ever had to buy energy drinks. It’s a fun position, and it pays fairly well. Also I get to meet celebs such as Wee Man. Did I mention I get at least 15 cases of Monster a month?

Do you have partnerships or sponsor events on campus or with student organizations? Oftentimes, I partner up with organizations for events. Since I still have a lot of friends that are in greek life, I generally will give Monster and other promotional products such at t-shirts, hats, stickers, etc to organizations. These events can range from giant parties to tailgates to philanthropy/community service events. I’ve also partnered up with non-greek organizations such as SGA and the soccer team.

How is campus rep position relative to your major/future career? I’m stretching it with this one, but I guess any career is going to involve meeting new people. I am quick to connect with people and usually leave an impression. Also I’ve learned the best pick up lines with my position. “I’m no photographer, but I can picture us together” has been used many times.

A word of advice? College is all about managing your time. Work hard during the week, and have fun on the weekends.
