Welcome back to campus! Spring semester can be long, dreary, and cold. What better way to fill the time in between studying with some good shows. I don’t know about anyone else, but I watch so many different shows at the same time — one for each genre of course. I love having go-to shows every mood I’m feeling. I’ll share my favorites to keep up with during the semester.

Reality TV: Real Housewives of New Jersey

If you get it, you get it. Seven women from New Jersey in the same room is a disaster and a half. The women show their luxurious houses, tremendous closets, and go on extravagant vacations. In the midst of having a career and taking care of kids and husbands, cameras follow them along on their lives in New Jersey. They throw lavish parties, mock each other and fight to be queen. Last season the husbands stirred up their drama…

Crime Drama: True Detective

Girls love crime shows, it’s a fact. True Detective is a fictitious series with each season featuring a new cast and storyline. The most recent season is coming out episode by episode which is so painful. This season, the show is set in a remote town in Alaska with a large indigenous population. The police teams try to solve mysterious crimes while trying to cover up their own dramas. There are so many plot twists, leaving every theory thrown out of the window.

Comedy: The Middle

This is such an underrated show. I revisited this not too long ago and it’s seriously so funny. The show follows an eccentric, middle class family from Indiana (the middle of the United States) from the inner dialogue of the mom. Each of the three kids have distinct personalities and quirks that compliment each other as one wacky family. While the show is camp, it always ends with a sweet sentiment which makes it feel nostalgic.

Sitcom: Friends

To be honest, I just got into Friends earlier this month. I know I’m late to the game but it’s such a nostalgic show. Set in New York City, six friends share their 20s laughing in a coffee shop, playing games in their iconic apartments, and exploring new relationships. It’s comforting to see a group of friends in their late 20s at all different stages in their lives. Watching the show makes viewers feel good about not having everything figured out yet. Don’t even get me started on how good the costumes are.

Love Reality: Love Island (Australia)

I always swore I would never enjoy a love reality tv show, but I am hooked — and you’ll be too. Love Island (Australia) introduces single, ridiculously attractive people to a resort in Spain. They play games, dress up, flirt, and stab each other in the back — there are so many twists and turns. Australians have the most fun I guess.
