Comfort in a Cup: 5 Hot Drinks for Fall

Fall has arrived and one of the many things you can look forward to is the coziness and warmth of hot, delicious drinks that stave off the chilly weather.  Her Campus has compiled some simple and tasty drinks for you to enjoy (and warm yourself up) on the cool, crisp days of fall.

Nutella Hot Cocoa from Kitchen Simplicity

What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon nutella
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon

How to Make It

  1. Put milk in a mug, microwave until desired temperature (2-3 minutes).
  2. Stir in nutella, until melted
  3. Sprinkle with cinnamon!

Apple Cider Steeped Tea from Hungry Girl Por Vida

What You’ll Need

  • 3 ounces of apple cider
  • 3 ounces hot water
  • 1 tea bag of your choice

How to Make It

  1. Heat apple cider in small pot on the stove or heatproof glass measurer
  2. Add hot cider, water, and tea bag to a mug and steep for 3-5 minutes

No Coffee Pumpkin Latte from Allrecipes

What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 quart milk
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

How to Make It

  1. Combine pumpkin, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla in a large saucepan over medium heat
  2. Use a whisk to blend well.
  3. Heat to a simmer (do not boil)

Butterscotch Coffee from The Foodie’s Kitchen

What You’ll Need

  • ½  cup butterscotch chips
  • 8 cups brewed coffee
  • ½ cup milk or half-and-half cream
  • Whipped cream in a can

How to Make It

  1. Heat in a small sauce pan, stir butterscotch chips with milk or cream until it’s melted.
  2. Pour into mugs, a little under halfway up
  3. Fill mugs to the top with prepared coffee.
  4. Top each mug with whipped cream

Russian Tea from Allrecipes

What You’ll Need

  • 1 cup instant tea powder
  • 2 cups orange-flavored drink (e.g. Tang)
  • 1 (3 ounce) package powdered lemonade mix
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground cloves

How to Make It

  1. In a large bowl, combine instant tea powder, orange drink mix, lemonade powder, sugar, cinnamon and cloves.
  2. Mix thoroughly
  3. Store in a sealed jar
  4. When you’re ready to drink, mix 3 or 4 teaspoons of mix with 1 cup of hot water
