This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at VCU chapter.

1. The Cherry Blossoms

In the spring the beautiful cherry blossom trees in the middle of campus bloom making the dreaded walk to classes a magical experience. They’re sure to get you a ton of Instagram likes too.

2. Belle Isle

As the weather continues to get warmer, the opportunities to go explore nature get higher. VCU is right by the James River and surrounding the river are a ton of cool trails and little islands including everyone’s favorite, Belle Isle. So next time you need a break from schoolwork or are just feeling like a nice nature walk, head on down to Belle Isle, one of the greatest perks of living in RVA.

3. Monroe Park

Any time the weather is nice, Monroe Park is the go-to homework and chill spot. There are always a ton of VCU students having picnics, making music and even tight rope walking. Check out these VCU student’s day in the park and go have one for yourself!

4. Nice Weather

VCU is a southern school so look forward to warm, beautiful weather this spring! Richmond’s spring weather creates a perfect opportunity to whip out your cute spring dresses and sandals that have been collecting dust in your closet during the cold winter months.

5. Spring Concerts

During the spring the VCU music department holds a ton of performances of ensembles students have been rehearsing in all semester long and they are all completely free! Music lovers check out this schedule of performances

6. Outdoor Adventure Program

Springtime is perfect for outdoor adventures because it’s not too blistering hot and not too bitter cold. VCU Recreational Sports has an Outdoor Adventure Program that provides low-cost trips in the great outdoors like hiking, stand up paddle boarding and even rafting in the James River.
