What to Watch on Friday Night with Friends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Vanderbilt chapter.
Every now and then there are going to be nights when you just don’t want to go out and hop from party to party until 2am. You’d much rather stay in, pop a bag of popcorn, maybe make some hot chocolate, and invite your best girl friends over for a Netflix movie night. Well, I’ve got you covered for when that day comes. I know, I know! You’ve already seen The Grand Budapest Hotel, Crazy Stupid Love, and The Devil Wears Prada. And yes, I do know that you secretly love wasting thirty minutes browsing through endless lists of Netflix offerings to find the “perfect” movie. But let me tell you why these three movies are perfect for any girls’ movie night, no matter how many times you’ve seen them.
The Grand Budapest Hotel: Firstly, Wes Anderson (the director of The Grand Budapest Hotel as well as several other amazing indie films) is bae. His artistic style is top notch and will bring out your inner artsy/hipster side. Secondly, TGBH has juuusstt the right amount of comedy, romance, and gore to keep you laughing, a little freaked out, and catching the feels every 5 minutes.
Crazy Stupid Love: I mean, what more is there to say other than that it’s an amazing romantic comedy with Ryan Gosling and he takes his shirt off at least half a dozen times. If that doesn’t convince you then I don’t know what will, because even though the movie is great in a hundred different ways Ryan Gosling definitely is the #1 reason why you should watch it.
The Devil Wears Prada: In college you spend a lot of time thinking about where you’ll be in five, ten, or even twenty years. Wondering (and worrying) about what you’re life will be like gets a little less stressful when you watch the roller coaster that is Andy Sachs’s life. She doesn’t have her shit together despite the fact that she went to a good school and worked really hard for a career she loved. And guess what? Everything still turned out okay for her. So relax and remember that it’ll all be okay in the end. And that one always looks good in Chanel ;)
