The key to staying fit this winter is actually rooted in the exercise apparel you own. As a native Floridian, I was able to run on the beach on Christmas Day. However, in Nashville, I pretty much stop running outside in October. Because running is my favorite form of exercise, not to mention the most efficient, I often find myself gaining dreaded winter weight once we hit December. But this year, I’m determined to fight against that trend. I will NOT be gaining ANY winter weight this year, because I’m about to invest in some winter workout apparel that will completely save me over the next few months. See below for some of the pieces I’ll be investing in!
VS Sport is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands for exercise apparel. The colors are super fun and exciting, and they have so many great items! I’m particularly in love with these convertible mittens, as the thumbhole allows you to access your phone during your workout. I’m always fiddling with my Nike Run app or my music, so this will save my hands and my sanity during my next winter run! The neck warmer is also brilliant if you want to cover up even more but still look stylish.
Fabletics is Kate Hudson’s new line of workout clothes, and I gotta say, I’m pretty impressed. Her collection is a great mix of conservative and sexy, and I can imagine it appealing to a wide range of women. This piece is one of my favorites, due to the gorgeous color and the comfy design. The relaxed, oversized fit is perfect when paired with workout leggings, and the little collar is so cute! I can’t wait to add this to my collection.
Lululemon has gotten some bad press lately, but I still love this brand for all things fitness. I got my first pair of real workout pants from here, and I still wear them constantly, which speaks to the value of their apparel. I really want to invest in the Wunder Under Pant, which just came out in new colors/prints. I think the beautiful baroque deep zinfandel/deep zinfandel is the best, because it can pass as a neutral legging but still has that extra Lululemon pop from the print. I also like the ziggy wee august glo/raspberry glo light print.
Not everyone loves to exercise outside. I personally have become addicted to Hotbox, which is essentially really intense kickboxing in a heated room. I never come to class in heavy clothes, even when its cold outside, so I still need a few lightweight pieces in my workout wardrobe. Plus, even though the workout is indoors, I still experience a lack of motivation to go that gets even worse in the winter. I love this lightweight inspirational tank from Etsy because just putting it on would help me get my butt out the door and into the Hotbox studio. It will do the same for whatever indoor workout you prefer!
