This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

The season of SGA (Student Government Association) elections is upon us! Who are you voting for? Not sure? If you haven’t had time to meet all of the candidates or couldn’t make it to the SGA Debate yesterday this is your chance! Get to know more about SGA senator candidate, Nicole Njoku, below!

Name: Nicole Njoku

Major/Minor: Political Science/French

Hometown:  Imo State, Nigeria

Classification: Freshman

HC: Hello Nicole! Tell us a few things about yourself!

Nicole: I have a Nigerian accent, I love politics, I can be really serious, I hate reading books, and I love to dance. I am also a makeup artist and I love to pray. My laughter is highly contagious!

HC: What position are you running for in this year’s SGA elections and why?

Nicole: I am running for SGA senator because I am someone who is very outgoing. Instead of complaining about irregularities from afar, I like to be a part of the change and improvement of our campus, as I have come to accept VSU as my “home away from home.” I believe in a better VSU, and so I want to join hands with the administration and the students of VSU for us to make it comfortable for us and the future Blazers!

HC: What are some areas/policies/rules/etc. at VSU that you would like to improve?

Nicole: I am mostly interested in improving the diversity within our campus. I also have an innovatoin for better school spirit on the VSU campus and better communication for the student body so they can actually see the improvements they want at VSU. SGA should be the voice of the students and should be for the people.

HC: What impact do you hope to make if you are elected to the Senator position?

Nicole: I hope to create a better mixture between cultures, not just diversity from the mouth, but diversity at heart. Through diversity, more international students would feel more comfortable to attend VSU, which would also help in increasing the enrollment rate. I hope to improve the rate of communication between the student body and the administration. I also hope to bring discipline which starts from the government to the rest of the student body. I hope to improve the ratings of VSU as a whole through organizing activities or programs that could get the school name out, not only within the state of Georgia, but outside cities as well.

HC: Do you have a platform you would like to share with us?

Nicole: My platform is Vote Diversity, Passion, and Discipline. Vote Nicole Njoku! For Senator – Student Government Association – Valdosta State University.
