Natural hair by definition, is hair that has not been permed, dyed or altered by chemicals such as relaxers/texturizers. Natural hair is so beautiful for so many different reasons. 1. It’s the hair you were born with, no one can take that away from you. 2. It’s natural, so all of those harsh chemicals used to alter your hair are nonexistent. 3. Being natural allows for your hair to be free and grow the way it was intended to. I love my natural hair although it can be tedious at times, it’s very worth it. Below I will include some hairstyles for my natural girls that will allow your hair to flourish like never before.

1. Bantu Knots

When done correctly, Bantu knots are the epitome of slay! They’re also very easy to do, require cheap products such as a simple moisturizer, and they are very light weight to rock. Simply part your hair into small sections. Twist your hair and wrap around into a small circle until the ends are tucked away and the finished product will be beautiful. A head full of curls that did not require any heating tool.

2. Braids

Braids are incredible for natural hair. Whether you are using your own hair for braids or adding hair—your hair will definitely grow and be protected from harsh climates and chemicals. Just simply grease your scalp with any oil of your choice (I prefer coconut), every night and wash your braids once a week and you will be good to go.

3. Weaves/Wigs

Another great style for protecting natural hair is weave! This is my favorite go to style. Getting a weave that includes a closure or a frontal with no leave out allows your hair to grow without manipulation. Also, a wig allows you to take care of your hair first hand while still being able to slay on a daily basis.

4. Wash N’ Go

This is probably the simplest and least manipulative way for hair growth. Simply just wash your hair with the conditioner of your choice, braid it or twist it, let it dry and in the morning you will have curls. Now, although everyone doesn’t have naturally curly hair, using hair gels and other types of rollers or hair sets will have you looking like a curly sue in no time.

So ladies, these were just my top 4 ways to maintaining natural hair with protective styles. There are tons and tons of different styles you can choose from. My best advice is to watch some YouTube videos and search for some styles. Natural hair is untamed and may not always come out perfect on the first try, but just like you, it’s unapologetically beautiful.
