5 Black Owned Businesses You Can Support This Christmas!–That Won’t Break Your Bank

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

Hi guys!

Ya know, once I found out Santa was indeed NOT real (even in the slightest), Christmas was kind of just another holiday for me. I didn’t wake up with the same Christmas cheer, I stopped putting thought into gifts, and I just stopped being cheerful all around. It sucked, but once I learned it wasn’t about Santa or receiving gifts, I learned that it was all about giving back, and also giving back to small businesses so they can give to their family as well!

One thing I’ve learned in my late teens and sort of early twenties is that the gift doesn’t have to be expensive for it to mean something! Gifts should come from the heart! So, here are 5 Black-owned businesses you shouldn’t mind giving your coins to this holiday szn that are clean (and affordable)!

1. Jazz Monaé

I actually discovered this content creator/business owner on TikTok! She creates coffee mugs, tote bags, apparel, and even mousepads! Her site is so aesthetically pleasing, and you can also get 10% off your order when you subscribe to her texts! Don’t wanna miss those sales! You can shop her products at the link below and follow her socials!

2. With Love, imoni

This Black queen is also another business owner! Imoni started off at Bath and Body Works and decided to branch out to produce her own multicultural and inclusive skincare company entitled, With Love, Imoni. On her site, she sells body butters (great for the colder months!), body polishes, and body oils (great for the summer!)! Her Christmas restock will be on December 11th at 6pm! Check out her store down below and her socials so you can get an inside look at her story and business!

3. black girl sunscreen

This SPF 30, ZERO white cast sunscreen brand is the absolute TRUTH! I’ve seen such rave reviews about it, and I recommend it to almost anyone! As many black girls know, sunscreen can leave that awful, white cast on our faces which doesn’t look good especially with makeup! This is such a handy and great inexpensive stocking stuffer for the holidays! Remember black girls, we DO need sunscreen; even in the colder months :)! Click the link below to purchase!

4. melanin hair care

Founded in 2015 by sisters Whitney and Taffeta White, Melanin hair care is a black-owned natural hair care business that I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about, and I’ve been meaning to try it myself! Their products contain no parabens or harsh sulfates that’ll damage your hair. Their focus is healthy hair on a budget while providing clean and natural ingredients in their products! They even have visors, an in-shower mirror, and headwraps on their site! You can find their products not only online, but in Target, Sephora, and Ulta! Click the link down below to check out their shop and follow them on social media!

5. monday eve & co.

Monday Eve & Co. is a black-owned candle company owned by Tara. She founded Monday Eve & Co. in 2020 and strived to bring luxury into the home of other candle lovers. She and her team aim to luxuriate your safe space and add the ‘homey’ feeling to your home and help you unwind after a long day!
