Top 5 Snacks Post-Run of March 2019

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.

Running requires you to stay fuelled before, during, and after a run. Here are some of my go-to snacks for after a run in 2019.

5. Justin’s Cashew Almond Butter

After a run, I love eating this cashew butter on its own or with celery/apples. Not only does this refuel you with healthy fats after a run, but it also tastes amazing. They have other varieties as well including a chocolate hazelnut butter, vanilla almond butter, maple almond butter, peanut butter, and much more. The maple cashew is by far my favourite of 2019.

4. Halo Top Dairy Free

I can eat the whole pint in one sitting, this stuff is so good. I like the dairy-free version because I love coconut. This pint has a good amount of protein, a subtle hint of coconut milk, chunks of oatmeal cookie, and it’s so satisfying after a long summer run!

3. Lighten Up Sweet Earth Burrito

I may have put this in a previous favourites list, but it’s just so good! I prefer this burrito over all other breakfast burritos because it doesn’t have eggs. This burrito packs a quick protein punch after a run with its great, fresh flavour. I also like them because I can pronounce all of the ingredients.

2. Honey Stinger Snack BarThese are a new product from Honey Stinger. They make great snack waffles, but these are a great addition to their line of products. These bars have the crunch of crackers, with peanut butter sandwiched between and coated in chocolate. If you love peanut butter and chocolate, I highly recommend these. They give a quick replenish of energy after your run.

1. Paleo Puffs

Now, these really have no benefit for after a run beside being delicious. They are the perfect amount of crunchy, and they have a mild vinaigrette flavour that doesn’t burn your mouth. Sometimes after a run, you want all the carbs, and these are a great tasting option!

Thanks for checking out my 2019 list. I hope you get to try some of these and find your own favourite post-run snacks!
