The Best Products I Tried from the Her Campus College Beauty Awards

The Her Campus National Editors write about products we love and think you’ll love too. Her Campus has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase. All products are in stock and all prices are accurate as of publication.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.

Over the summer, I was lucky enough to be chosen as a product tester for the 5th annual Her Campus College Beauty Awards! Over three months, I tried 14 products from a variety of different skincare and body care brands. Here were the top five  that I’d recommend!

Kitsch Solid Shave Butter

While this product did not take home a win in the body care category in the beauty awards, it was the number one product on my list! Prior to trying this shave butter, I had recently purchased a metal razor to help reduce waste. While I loved the razor, I swear it was the most painful experience of my life for the longest time! Almost every time I shaved, my skin became  dry after shaving, and I’d cut myself at least once per share. That all changed when I got my Kitsch sample! Since using the product, my skin has been super hydrated, and I haven’t cut myself once. Kitsch’s butter is also formulated specifically for reusable razors, so my razor hasn’t been clogged either. I also love that it’s a solid bar product, so I’m not creating any waste. Since getting the product back in June, I haven’t run out yet, so it’s cost-effective. So if you are looking for a way to prevent razor burns and cuts while you shave, this product is a game changer!

The Ordinary Aloe 2% + NAG 2% Solution

This is another product that unfortunately didn’t take a top spot, but I still loved it! I often get a lot of hormonal acne on my skin that I struggle to get rid of. When using The Ordinary’s serum, I found that it really helped to lessen the irritation and redness of my acne and help it go away faster than the typical products I used. I also loved that it wasn’t too sticky, and I could easily layer it with other products during my nighttime skincare routine.

Dove Invigorating Aloe and Eucalyptus Body Wash

As for products that did win some awards, I’ve been using Dove’s Aloe and Eucalyptus body wash every single day since I got it! Dove’s latest body wash is super moisturizing and leaves my skin extra clean – especially when I use it with exfoliating gloves. The Aloe and Eucalyptus scent is also super calming and helps to relax me after a long and chaotic day. The best part? It’s SUPER cheap, making it the perfect luxurious product for students who are on a budget!

Saje Natural Wellness Extra Strength Warming Balm

I was super excited to get to test this product before it officially launched over the summer. I find that I get muscle soreness around my upper back and this product went beyond my expectations to help with that. The Extra Strength Warming Balm uses all-natural ingredients to help ease pain and soreness. As per the instructions, I was to take “a rice-grain sized amount” and rub it on the area that was sore. Believe it or not, that rice-grain sized amount did wonders. The chili pepper extract in the balm goes straight to work once applied by warming up the area and adding a tingling sensation which ultimately gets rid of the pain. Also, since you only use small amounts of it, this product lasts FOREVER. I’ve barely made a dent in mine since I got it. Whether you’re a student athlete or someone that just deals with muscle soreness/tech neck, I’d highly recommend it!

Rebels Refinery 100% Natural Face Wash

This face wash was also at the top of my list for best products I tried. For the longest time, I only used one specific face wash as other washes caused me to break out or have super oily skin. This one by Rebels Refinery changed the game for me and became a new favourite! For starters, the packaging is adorable; it looks so cute in my skincare drawer. I also love the lather it gives as it really makes me feel like I’m getting my skin clean. While the product is fragrance-free, I still love the way it smells, and it always makes my skin feel clean and refreshed after I use it!
