2020 has been a whirlwind of a year, from the Australian forest fires at the beginning of the year to now during a global pandemic that doesn’t seem to have an end to it. I am ready to put this year behind me and get ready for the most wonderful time of the year, Christmas. It may seem a little early for Christmas celebrations, but I think it is the right dose of serotonin needed to enter into the new year on the right foot. Here are a few ways to get into the Christmas spirit:

Drink Hot Chocolate:

This may seem like a silly thing to do just because hot chocolate is available all year round. But it tastes different when you are curled up with a mug of hot chocolate with whipped cream and a candy cane stick. Hot chocolate around Christmas time warms the soul and gets me into the Christmas spirit. Nothing is better than a hot cup of hot chocolate watching The Polar Express in Christmas jammies.

Watch Christmas Movies:

Christmas movies are such an easy way for me to get into the Christmas spirit. No matter what Christmas movie is playing, even the cheesy Hallmark movies, it transports you into a lovely Christmas time where there is nothing to think about aside from the joy and wonders of Christmas. My top 5 all-time best Christmas movies have to be: Elf, The Polar Express, The Grinch, Home Alone, and Four Christmases. These movies will be on repeat for the next month.

Listen to Christmas Music:

Nothing is better than sitting in front of the Christmas tree, wrapping presents, and listening to Christmas music. There are the classics like Mariah Carey and Michael Buble, but it really doesn’t matter who is signing the music as long as you are enjoying it. Christmas music is an instant way to bring up your spirits and get you ready for this amazing holiday.

Get Connected with Family and Friends:

2020 is a crazy year, and I think this year has shown us how important it is to stay connected with family and friends on a different level. Zoom, Skype, and Facetime are a great way to get connected with friends and family virtually, and with the holidays coming up, this will be a great way to stay connected. I know for me, my family and friends always put a smile on my face, and with this crazy year, all we need is to stay connected to the people that put a smile on our face.

2020 has been probably the worst year that has existed, and I feel that we need to start Christmas early. With these simple ways to get into the Christmas spirit, I hope everyone feels a little more joyful than they did before.
