10 Grey’s Anatomy Quotes That are Way Too Relatable

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UWindsor chapter.

Grey’s Anatomy came into our lives just a little over a decade ago. Let’s be honest; this show is probably one of the best shows to ever air on television. It’s jampacked with romance, drama, medicine, attractive doctors, and laughs all in the sitting of a 40 minute episode. No wonder people are still following this journey for the past 11 years (or, for the binge-watchers, a couple months). From the moment the show began with the epic first monologue, “I’m kinda screwed,” we knew that this show was going to be pretty relatable. Grey’s Anatomy quotes are perfect for capturing the emotion and feelings of love, death, heartbreak, making big life decisions, losing a friend, or even just getting through the week without having a mental breakdown. Without further ado, here are the 10 most relatable quotes from Grey’s Anatomy.

  1. “Have some fire. Be unstoppable. Be a force of nature. Be better than anyone here and don’t give a damn about what anyone thinks” –Cristina Yang, Season 4 Episode 15.

  2. “If you aren’t willing to keep looking for light in the darkest of places without stopping, even when it seems impossible, you will never succeed” –Amelia Shepherd, Season 11 Episode 11.

  3. “Don’t let what he wants eclipse what you need. He’s very dreamy, but he’s not the sun. You are!” –Cristina Yang, Season 10 Episode 24.

  4. “Did you say it? ‘I love you.’ ‘I don’t ever want to live without you.’ ‘You changed my life.’ Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then look around; Drink it in ’cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow” –Meredith Grey, Season 5 Episode 24.

  5. “We spend our whole lives worrying about the future, planning for the future, trying to predict the future, as if figuring it out will cushion the blow. But the future is always changing. The future is the home of our deepest fears and wildest hopes. But one thing is certain when it finally reveals itself. The future is never the way we imagined it” –Meredith Grey, Season 5 Episode 23.

  6. “It turns out sometimes you have to do the wrong thing. Sometimes you have to make a big mistake to figure out how to make things right. Mistakes are painful, but they’re the only way to find out who we really are” –Denny Duquette, Season 3 Episode 4

  7. “If you love someone, you tell them. Even if you’re scared that it’s not the right thing. Even if you’re scared that it’ll cause problems. Even if you’re scared that it will burn your life to the ground, you say it, and you say it loud and you go from there” –Mark Sloan, Season 9 Episode 2.

  8. “The human life is made up of choices. Yes or no. In or out. Up or down. And then there are the choices that matter. Love or hate. To be a hero or to be a coward. To fight not to give in. To live or die. Live or die. That’s the important choice. And it’s not always in our hands” –Derek Shepherd, Season 6 Episode 24.

  9. “Sometimes it’s good to be scared. It means you still have something to lose” –Richard Webber, Season 4 Episode 10.

  10. “Just when we think we figured things out, the universe throws us a curveball. So, we have to improvise. We find happiness in unexpected places. We find ourselves back to the things that matter the most. The universe is funny that way. Sometimes it just has a way of making sure we wind up exactly where we belong” –Meredith Grey, Season 7 Episode 10.
