Top Picks: Her Campus Winter Survival Kit

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

I had so much fun this week testing out some of the products that Her Campus received in the winter survival kit! Here’s what I thought of them…

Rimmel London: Provocalips 16HR Kiss-Proof Lip Colour This lip color promises 16-hour hold. Although I couldn’t get mine to stay on quite that long, it still stayed on from before I left for school until after I got home. I have worn it every day this week – I love it! I chose a neutral color, Once Upon a Berry. I thought it made my lips look fantastic!

Rimmel London: ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner I will be honest, eyeliner is not a part of my daily makeup routine. I can never seem to find an eye pencil that I like, and I can never get it to go on quite how I want it to. I was surprised when I put this eyeliner on for the first time! It went on so smoothly and was very defined. I will probably have to make this a part of my daily makeup routine!

Rimmel London: Volume Flash ScandalEyes Mascara I really liked this mascara. It didn’t do any of the typical annoying mascara things, like smudge, flake, or clump. I tried the color 003 Extreme Black. I also liked the packaging on this mascara, it was very bold and eye-catching!

Yogi Tea This tea may have been my favorite product of them all. The flavors I tried were Green Tea: Blueberry Slim Life and Sweet Tangerine: Positive Energy. I consider myself an avid tea drinker, and the fruity flavors of the blueberry and tangerine added a sweet twist to both flavors! The inspirational quotes on each tag were a nice bonus!

7 Wonders: Caribbean Coconut Calming Mask This face mask definitely had its pros and cons. It was a little difficult keeping it from sliding around my face, but the final result was worth it! My face felt so smooth and moisturized after using it, it was a great mid-week stress reliever. I also liked how it smelled great, and all the masks in this line come in (very pretty) single-use packages. They make a great addition to any girls’ night!

5-Hour Energy: Blue Raspberry This was my first experience with 5-Hour Energy. I’ve always been a little skeptical about this stuff, so I’m glad I was able to try this sample before buying it. The 1.5 fl oz bottle contains a whopping 230 mg of caffeine, equivalent to a medium coffee. I liked the convenience of being able to sip this for a quick boost of energy instead of chugging a 16 oz coffee for the equivalent boost of energy. I didn’t drink the whole bottle in one sitting; I drank half the bottle and waited a few hours before taking the other half for a steadier wave of energy and to avoid crashing when it wore off. Overall, it tasted pretty good and did what it promised, so I will most likely be stocking up for finals week!

Pure Silk: Raspberry Mist Shave Cream This shaving cream promises protection against nicks and cuts that softens and nourishes your skin as you shave. Just for fun, I shaved one leg with soap and water and the other with Pure Silk. Sure enough, I could tell a difference! The leg I used Pure Silk on didn’t dry out as fast as the other one while giving a much closer shave! This shaving cream is a must-have for winter! Plus, it smells amazing!

Overall, I think we got some great products in our winter survival kit this semester! These products will help you relax after finals and make great gifts and stocking stuffers for your friends and family. Let us know if you have tried any of these products in the comments, and stay tuned to the Her Campus UW-Stout Facebook page for events and opportunities to score some free survival kit goodies!
