I like to think that I created my style on my own. The reality is, however, that my style is inspired by my surroundings. I draw inspiration from style bloggers, fashion magazines, art, theatre, and television and cinema. Perhaps the most influential of those are television and cinema. Their outfits are perfectly styled, cohesive, and always trendy. We all struggle to establish our own unique styles, and sometimes we just need a little style guidance; and who better to help us with that than our favorite television and cinema characters. Obviously we all have our own favorite style icons on television and in cinema, but here are some of my favorites:

1. Summer in 500 Days of Summer: Her character’s style is classic Zooey Deschanel: retro, simple, and timeless. Also, blue. Everything is blue.

2. Peggy Olson in Mad Men: Everyone always raves about Betty or Megan’s style, but, in my opinion, Peggy has a far more interesting style. Her style evolution throughout the series is remarkable and deserves greater recognition.

3. Lady Mary Crawley in Downton Abbey: She never fails to have exquisitely tailored, stunning garments, especially as her style becomes more modernized in the later seasons.

Who are your favorite style icons from television and cinema?
