From the totally fashion forward styles to the creative student collection displays, the spring 2014 Silhouettes Fashion Show was a huge success! In case you missed this year’s show, which took place on Thursday, May 1 and Saturday, May 3 in the Memorial Student Center, here’s the lowdown about the event that will leave you anxiously awaiting next year’s shows!
The Silhouette’s Fashion Show is an annual UW-Stout student event that showcases various student garments of the Apparel Design and Development program, and this year, 23 Senior Studio Class collections. Collections varied from formal, casual, children’s, winter, and swimwear. The beginning of the show was dedicated to a brief video of the graduating seniors introducing and explaining the names of their collections, what inspired them, and one word that described it. The rest of the show consisted of feel-good music, fun lighting, and of course fabulous makeup, hairstyles, shoes and crazy good talent. The hard work and dedication the Silhouettes Fashion Show Organization put into their entire production is more than impressive; here are some of the MANY highlights…
Accessories
Alysia Fehram’s collection, Moxie, is an insanely cute modern mixed with vintage line, and all these models wore cat eye sunglasses.
Stephanie Graves’s collection, Leiani, meaning heavenly flower in Hawaiian, was accessorized perfectly with her Hawaiian themed line. The line was inspired by her love for Hawaiian culture and beach lifestyle.
The Shoes!
As Coco Chanel said, “A woman with good shoes is never ugly.”
Cassandra Berg’s collection, Aberrance, showed off some totally eccentric shoes that went perfectly with her quirky collection, which she explained was inspired by her recent summer spent in Los Angeles, CA and the music festivals and raves she experienced there.
The Adorable Kids Wear
Mai Moua’s collection, Pixie Rebel, she says was inspired by her idea of an innocent girly girl with a rebellious side that sometimes likes to surface.
Awesome Presentation
Kelly Horak’s collection, Free Association, was inspired by her fascination with different art pieces, structures, and patterns she noticed at museums during her study abroad experience in London. Not only was this collection very alluring, but the models also added a unique and modern twist by projecting themselves walking down the runway through a live video using an iPhone.
There were so many talented designers and fabulous collections that should make attending the future Silhouettes Fashion Shows a must, not only because of how interesting it is to see who designed what, but to also learn what inspired their collections and designs. Who knows, maybe someday you’ll even see some of their designs in Vogue!
