An Open Letter to My Future Classroom

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Dear Future Students,

You don’t know me now, but I am going to be your teacher. I am going to be the person who gets to watch you learn and grow every day. Although we have not met yet, I am so looking forward to meeting you. I have had a lot of time while in school to think about what kind of teacher I want to be, and with that being said, there are three things that hope you gain from having me as a teacher.

I hope you learn to love school

Because with loving school comes loving learning. It is so important to want to learn and to enjoy learning. I hope you get excited at the thought of going back to school after summer break with your new notebooks and pencils, seeing your friends, and learning something new.

I hope you feel at home in my classroom.

Because I know you are so much more than “just a kid”. You are an individual with thoughts, feelings, and opinions. I want you to know that in my classroom, your voice will be heard and you should always feel comfortable enough to express yourself.

I hope you know that you can do anything you set your mind to.

Because I will support you and do everything I can to help you succeed.

Genuinely, Ms. Lee
