How to Celebrate Women’s Empowerment Every Day of the Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Stout chapter.

Galentine’s season may be over, but there are 364 other days of the year to celebrate and empower women. Not sure how to get started? We’ve got some suggestions!

Calling Out Problematic Men

How many times have you politely smiled when a man continues to talk over your female classmate during a group project, or held your tongue when an off-beat relative makes an insensitive joke? It’s time to put an end to this ridiculous nonsense. We need them to feel at least as uncomfortable as they make us.

Having a Diverse Girl Gang

One of the critiques of first wave feminism is the very little diversity. It was all about straight, white, upper middle class women. Today, feminism is intersectional, and your girl gang needs to reflect that!

Prioritizing Your Female Friendships

It can be so easy to put male friendships above female friendships. They can seem like this path that leads to career opportunities, relationships, and life experiences. No matter how great the men are in your life, you should always be making room to let women in. Solidarity with women is what truly empowers us.

Knowing Your Boundaries

Boundaries really come down to respect. You have to respect others, yourself, and what’s best for everyone. Are you the person that your girls should come to when they’re down, or should you be directing them to someone else? It’s important to know your role in others lives.

Fangirling Over Women in Your Life

Support the women running classrooms, companies, and governments. For every woman that feels supported and appreciated in her position, a path opens up for another woman to feel accepted in her leadership role.

Together we can make equality a reality!

Like a lot of business majors, Stephanie has a favorite Andrew Carnegie quote, and like a good communication minor, has very strong opinions on the Oxford comma. Aside from being a Stout student, Stephanie is an avid fan of Bay Area sports, Fleetwood Mac, and the amazingly perfect show Dollface.
