Think of your favorite store. You know, the one you visit as often as possible, where the sales staff knows you by name, and you tend to spend a little (alright, all) of your spending money. For me, that is Anthropologie.

I discovered Anthropologie six years ago while running errands with my mom. That visit changed my life. Prior to that, I struggled to find retailers who offered clothing that matched my style. When I walked into Anthropologie I felt more in my element than ever before. Every dress, sweater, or home décor piece called my name. Furthermore, the visual merchandising was so exquisitely artistic. To this day I have yet to find a store or brand that so accurately matches my personality.

Most stores serve one function: to sell merchandise. Anthropologie does so much more than that; they sell a lifestyle. Each store is uniquely arranged like a cool, chic home; complete with cozy lounge areas, acoustic and retro French music playing on the speakers, dessert-scented candles, and antique fixtures. On special sale days they even offer complimentary bottles of European mineral water, homemade lemonade, and fresh scones to add to the shopping experience.

If I’m ever having a rough day or don’t feel inspired style-wise, I always go to Anthropologie. The creative environment always refreshes me and leaves me feeling exhilarated. Honestly, imagine being in a bad mood while in a beautiful store filled with beautiful merchandise that has Angel Food Cake, Pumpkin Soufflé, and Espresso scented candles burning all the time. Exactly. It’s impossible.

My love for Anthropologie has definitely resulted in many jokes and eye rolls from my friends and family. But, you know what? I’m okay with that. Anthropologie is what led me to the fashion industry, introduced me to countless designers and artists, and revolutionized my personal style. We ALL have our favorite stores where we can’t help but want to buy everything or wish our homes looked like they belong in one of their advertisements. It is that inspiration that defines our personal style and who we are as a person.
