Every Halloween season my Facebook is riddled with ‘Fun Halloween Costume DIY’s’ and ‘How To Have a Kickass Halloween on a Budget’ articles that always seem to leave out one thing: the cat costume. It is seen as a Halloween faux pas. Only basic girls would dress up as something so simple, right? WRONG! There is a lot of hate towards being a cat for Halloween. If you dress up as a cat everyone assumes you are uncreative and plain lazy for not putting more effort into your costume. But doesn’t that seem a little harsh? Sure, dressing as a cat has been a popular costume for pretty much, well…forever! But, why fix something if it is not broken.
Not to mention, the financial ease of buying a pair of cat ears and matching tail. It is convenient for a penny-pinching college student to have the reassurance they are not going to blow their entire paycheck on a lavish costume for one night.
Also, it is ADORABLE! There is no worry that you won’t look cute because everyone looks cute with fuzzy ears on their head. There should be no shame in wearing an easy-to-put-together outfit because that just means we have more time for the things in college that matter, like cramming for exams and binge eating pizza.
