Over quarantine, I developed a love for skincare and self-care. This was a whole new world to me but, through the help of Hyram on YouTube, I’ve learned a lot. Skincare is different for every person, and not all products work on all people. I’ve learned you have to do research on your type of skin (dry, oily, sensitive, etc..) and then go on to research products and what they do for the skin.

Through the help of the skincare specialist Hyram and his YouTube channel, (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2sYit3cZ2CuD_8FHYH7O_Q) I’ve learned that my skin is very dry and sensitive. On his channel, Hyram will recommend products for certain skin types, review major skincare brands, inform the viewers of ingredients that can harm the skin, and teach you the basics. What I really like about his content is that he will give recommendations that are affordable and are easily accessible drugstore products.

CeraVe Cleanser

I’ve come to love washing my face in the morning and night with the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. It has become something I look forward to starting and ending my day with. This a product to which Hyram gives a thumbs-up. This specific cleanser helps to moisturize dry skin like mine, and I have seen a major positive change in my skin.

The Ordinary

The Ordinary is an amazing, affordable skincare line I have found through Hyram’s channel. You can get these products through their website, on Sephora’s website, or even in Ulta! I currently use The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. I use this after I wash and dry my face and apply it to areas where I am experiencing breakouts. I’ve noticed that this tends to make the areas that I’ve applied it become stiffer. But with the help of a moisturizer, it goes away. Then, I use the product The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 which I apply to areas on my face that tend to be drier. The last serum I use is The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane, and I apply this all over my face. This serum is more oily than the others, and it helps with overall dryness. You can also apply this to your hair to help reduce hair frizz.

CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion

One of the last steps of my skincare routine is to apply a moisturizer. After all of my serums, I take a small amount of moisturizer and apply it all over my face, rubbing it in thoroughly. I change what I use between the CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion and the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream. I found the cream to be very heavy which is nice when my face gets very dry, especially in the winter. The lotion is super light, and it doesn’t feel like there is a lot of product on your face compared to the cream.

Jade Roller

A Jade Roller is something I have recently added to my skincare routine and it is my favorite part. Once I have everything applied onto my face, I take my jade roller and roll it all over my face. The jade roller is cooled and it helps with brightening your complexion, reducing puffiness, stimulating lymphatic drainage, and promoting blood circulation. And it overall feels nice and relaxing on the skin!

CeraVe Sunscreen

I never thought to ever apply sunscreen to my face every day. Especially living in Wisconsin, we don’t usually have the sun beating down on us all year long, and then wearing makeup on top of it didn’t make sense to me. After watching a few videos of Hyram’s, I learned how important it is to put on sunscreen every morning after moisturizing your face. If you take anything from this article, apply sunscreen to your face every morning. It can help reduce the appearance of pores and lines on your skin and overall protects your skin. I currently use the CeraVe Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 with a sheer tint. I like this sunscreen a lot because it leaves a nice tint on my face that makes it look like I am wearing foundation. But, to be honest, I am not always consistent with applying sunscreen. But I’m working on it and I’m hoping to get into a routine of using it.

I am in no way an expert on any of this; I just found what works best for me! It is very important to do the research and test out the products to find what works for you. It is a whole new world to me but I love it! If you want to start building a routine for your skin, I recommend going to Hyrams YouTube channel and start from the beginning and soon you’ll have the best skincare routine!
