Meet the Co-President of our chapter of Her Campus, Maddie Kumm!

Broadcast/Communications

What is your dream job?

There’s a couple! I’d love to be on E! News or the Style Network.  Working for a magazine would also be a dream.  Being in a big city is ideal for me!

What is your biggest pet peeve?

I HATE when people crack their knuckles or any part of their body.  It makes me cringe! Especially during exams, I can’t focus then!

Who is your biggest inspiration?

I love Cara Delevigne.  She’s so different and isn’t afraid to be who she is.  She doesn’t care what others think about her.  I admire individuality SO much.

What got you into Her Campus?

I generally love writing, my minor is writing! I loved writing in high school, and I knew I wanted to go into a writing/journalism based field, so I thought Her Campus would be an easy way to get involved on my own campus!  I also love how it’s aimed towards young women in college, specifically at UW-Lax!

What have you learned from being apart of Her Campus?  

I’ve learned how to be a team player, market a club, and run a club!  My writing skills and strategies have also been put to the test.  Making new friends and meeting new people with different backgrounds and interests is super neat.

How do you think Her Campus will benefit you in the future?  

Having writing and social media experience is critical in my job field.  Utilizing Her Campus, its resources, and services and implementing them into my intended career path is very easy, fun, and rewarding.

What do you like to do outside of class and clubs?

I love to dance!  I grew up with it and hope to never stop.  I also enjoy being social and hanging out with friends.  Although, I really do love watching movies, One Tree Hill, or catching up with a good book (Harry Potter preferably).  I also compete in the Miss America Organization.

What can you be found doing on a Saturday?

If I’m not working at Express, I love to make plans around town with friends.  Otherwise, I’m either at a dance studio or just relaxing!

What is your favorite song right now?

I’m always listening to something different!  My Spotify playlist is my best friend.  I’ve always been a huge Fall Out Boy fan, and lately I’ve been listening to a lot of old Panic! At The Disco, Angels and Airwaves, etc.  Simple Plan has always been my favorite band though! I’m pretty musically diverse–one day I will be listening to blink-182, and the next I’ll be listening to old Jesse McCartney and Justin Bieber.
