Campus Cutie: Jam Out with Lewis Wethall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UW Lax chapter.

This week’s Campus Cutie fits right into your “dark and handsome” requirements for a potential boyfriend. Lewis is an extremely outgoing and energetic guy who loves kids, plays the drums, and can dance…come on ladies what’s not to love?

Hometown: Lake Mills, Wisconsin

What year are you at UW-La Crosse? Senior

Major/Minor:  Economics major, statistics mino

Relationship status: Single

What campus activities are you involved with?

I am currently a Vanguard on campus, which is a public relations team that works with our admissions office.  I give tours, speak on panels and travel to college fairs representing the university.  In the past I apart of the Marching Band (yes, a band geek), I was also on the UW-L Ballroom dance team. I learned how to Swing, waltz, tango, foxtrot, rumba, cha-cha, and quick-step.  Honestly the ballroom dance team was the best club team I’ve been apart of; traditional dances are a forgotten art that needs to be revitalized.

What is your favorite thing about La Crosse?

The scenery.  La Crosse lies between Grandad’s Bluff and the Mississippi River; this allows for countless scenes of beauty.  I’m a very outdoorsy, adventurous guy and the opportunities for me to go out and find some cool trees to climb are endless.

Biggest pet peeve?

Mouth smackers. Chew your food like a normal person.

Who’s your biggest role model and inspiration?

My father. I’ve never met a man who works harder and puts forth more effort into his work than he does.  He always has a smile on his face no matter the situation and really does put the needs of others before his own.

Describe an ideal date:

Something adventurous/random.  Take a random road trip to somewhere neither of us has been before and explore and get lost.

One of the best dates that I’ve had involved visiting Noah’s Ark in Wisconsin Dell’s, getting bored with it after about 2 hours and proceeding to explore the city and got lost multiple times. It was a wonderfully disastrous date that turned out to be amazing.

Describe yourself in three words:

Unpredictable, adventurous, loyal

Favorite Food:

Monkey Bread. Childhood favorite.

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?

I can listen to just about anything, music is one of my big passions.  It’s what I love. I follow a simple rule of thumb: If I can drum to it, I like it. Unless it’s country.  Your editor (Tianna) might not like that statement…  It’s slowly growing on me though; don’t lose hope.  Fun fact, if you can sing, I guarantee you can win my heart within 5 minutes.  I’m a sucker for a girl with a good voice.

Artists to check out: Ben Howard, Greek Fire, Motion City Soundtrack, Ed Sheeran

Favorite song to dance to at a party:

“I Believe in a Think Called Love” – The Darkness

Where are you most likely to be found on a Friday night?

Downtown with my boys of course, I like to enjoy my weekends off of school with a few drinks at the bar.  Don’t challenge me to a dance-off though. You’ll lose. I promise.

What are the qualities you find most attractive in a girl?

Sense of humor, spontaneity, confidence

What is the first thing you notice about a girl?

Her smile, a happy girl is a pretty girl.

What’s your go to pick up line?

My name isn’t Elmo but you can tickle me any time you want.

What is your dream job?

My dream job would be to be a drummer for a big time band performing all across the world.  The happiest moments of my life have been performing in an old band on a stage, and I would trade anything for those experiences again.  The feeling of being on a stage performing music is magic, no other feeling compares to it.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and what would you do?

I would travel to New Zealand and backpack throughout the country and coast-line. I recently learned how to surf and I would definitely spend a lot of time surfing the coastal beaches. Of course I would also have to visit the shine in honor of my favorite movie trilogy, the Lord of the Rings. I’ve been told New Zealand is the adventure capital of the world and nothing sounds more appealing to me than that!

How long have you played the drums? What is your favorite song to play?

I have been playing drums for approximately 11 years. My dad traded a guitar for a drum set when I was little and I took a liking to it…I’ve been playing ever since. My current favorite song to play along to is “Flashlight” by Ellie Goulding (trust me I made a sick drum remix).

How does it feel to be featured as a campus cutie? It’s a bit of an honor. I can dig being known as one of the cute guys on campus.
