It’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month – so think pink! If the Mean Girls reference “On Wednesdays, we wear pink” is true, then October is the month to think it’s Wednesday every day. According to the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month website, “about 1 in 8 U.S. women (just under 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.” October is the month to celebrate our collegiate love for pink by incorporating it into our outfits, whether it’s a bracelet, shirt, earrings or even a hot pink bra! Stores selling pink items in October can collaborate with breast cancer foundations so a portion of the cost can be donated to breast cancer research. With the help of loyal customers, volunteers, supporters and even the average person who donates a few dollars, breast cancer research is making progress to find a cure. The American Cancer Society states, “At this time there are more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the United States.” So let’s help to increase the number of survivors!
