Trendy Pieces to Update Your Fall Wardrobe

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UVA chapter.

So you have the basics, but sometimes you need a few of those trendy fun pieces to revamp and reinvent your wardrobe. Here are a couple of ideas to spice up your style this season!

Something Southwestern- Southwestern prints are all the rage for fall. Think Indian inspired feather earrings, printed skirts, and fringed boots and bags.

Color block – with the cold weather, some people become afraid of color- but don’t be! Bright colors are no longer exclusive to spring and summer. Jewel tones and color blocking are still big this season.

70s jeans and pants- forget those tight, uncomfortable skinny jeans and switch it up with some high-waisted flared jeans or pants with sky high wedges.

A non-black blazer- blazers make any outfit look more polished. For this fall, invest in a grey or blue blazer for a modern twist on the office staple.

A bustier top – just because it is cold you don’t have to stay all covered up! A bustier top is fun and sexy under a sweater or jacket.

Something pleated- Another 70s trend! Look for a colorful pleated shirt or midi skirt in chiffon.

Sequins- embrace your inner Vegas show girl and buy a sequin top or dress. Sequins are great for holiday parties!

A sheer top- if you are not bold enough to wear a sheer shirt, look for pieces that have sheer panels so you won’t feel overexposed.

Ladylike leather – buy an unexpected more feminine leather dress, skirt, or accessory. I really like the idea of wearing colorful leather pieces in maroon, eggplant, or even grey.

A velvet dress- stay warm and look chic in a velvet dress! Stay away from black to avoid a gothic Elvira look.

Biker accessories- balance out feminine trends with some bold black studded shoes or a bag.

Bold gold jewelry- simple yet bold gold jewelry compliments almost any ensemble.
