I know sweatpants and oversized t-shirts are tempting to wear every day. In fact, I am almost certain anyone prefers a comfy pair of leggings over rigid 100% cotton jeans, but are we doing ourselves a disservice by succumbing to comfort every single day of our lives?

I notice that the days when I attempt to study at home with an oversized t-shirt and leggings, I tend to feel unmotivated and overall tired. In an effort to fix this, I decided to go to coffee shops or my campus’ library to feel uplifted and productive. For a moment I thought that the solution was a change in setting, but I was wrong. I felt more mindful and awake in those particular places because I made an effort in my outfit. Perhaps it could be something like a placebo, but I finally found something that works for me. Although I am not exactly encouraging you to wear a dress and high heels whilst doing mundane activities, I definitely think that a nice top and your favorite jewelry pieces will make you approach the day a little more differently.

Since then, whenever I aim to have a productive day at home or elsewhere, I make sure to wear a tee that makes me feel comfortable and cool. The trick is to wear something that makes you feel good, even if it is a graphic tee with your favorite band on it. I firmly believe that the clothes we wear impact the way we approach the day to a certain extent. There is nothing that a resilient woman in a cute outfit can’t do!
