The time that all us college students dread: finals week. The week of stressing out, wanting to pull out our hair, and feeling like crying after each exam. It’s here, and though we’re not ready, let’s try to pat ourselves on the back for all that we have done this semester, and prepare for finals week.

First,

mentally prepare yourself for what’s to come. For me, I make sure I have bath bombs to relax, and schedule a time to cry or take a break for a day. Sometimes, I’ll let my friends know that I won’t be available to hang out so I don’t have to stress about canceling plans or feeling like I need to finish something in a hurry. It’s important to prepare yourself mentally because finals can really mess with you.

Second,

get organized with final assignments and exams. Whether you have a planner or not, write down all the due dates for any final assignments and exams so you’re not rushing at the last minute. Organize your time, plan breaks, and pick days for relaxing and studying. Getting organized before finals week is so important, and helps you in the end.

Lastly,

set some time for yourself. Finals are important, and we have to do our best, but if we don’t take time for ourselves, we’re going to get burnt out. If you’re like me and already feel this way, this step is the most important. I plan to set aside one day where I study for two hours, but then have the whole day to be in bed and watch my favorite movies. I think when we take time for ourselves, we realize that we’re more important than any exam or assignment, and when we feel our best, we do our best.

I hope you all have a great week and congratulations to you all for surviving this semester. I know we’re all probably tired and drained, but remember that after finals, we have a long break, and that’s something to push yourself through this week.
