Snowed in? No problem. With the majority of the United States staying home currently because of an arctic blast, what a better time than now to start a new show or read a new book. Here are some of my favorite shows and books that I’ve seen and read recently.

Gilmore Girls

Such a classic show for many girls to watch. Gilmore Girls is about a mother-daughter duo who lives in a small town in Connecticut and learns through each other every day. I recommend this show if you’re looking for something more light-hearted and funny with a dose of drama. With seven seasons, this show will keep you busy for a while.

You

If you like dramas, this is the show to watch. You follows bookstore manager Joe Goldberg, who falls in love with different girls throughout the show, and eventually, each relationship starts its downfall, and Joe becomes more and more obsessed with each one, leading to terrible outcomes in every relationship. This is a highly recommended show because of how different each season is portrayed in the different eyes of each main character and the challenges they go through during the show.

Billy on the Street

This show is for anyone looking for a laugh. Comedian Billy Eichner goes through New York streets with other celebrities to stun random pedestrians with unfiltered and unique pop culture questions. This show is definitely in my top 5, and I always watch it when I need a good laugh. It’s such a funny show; you can watch it over and over again.

101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think

Written by Brianna Wiest, this book explores embracing negative thinking, seeing the bright side in daily routine, and becoming aware of the cognitive biases that are creating the way you see your life. This book will leave you with one thought when you are done: this changed the way I think. This book has helped me change the way I think, and with its 101 essays, it’s guaranteed to help someone else.

Tiny Beautiful Things

Written by author Cheryl Strayed, “Tiny Beautiful Things” is a collection of essays compiled from Strayed’s “Dear Sugar” advice column, which she wrote anonymously, on The Rumpus, an online literary magazine. She writes about different topics ranging from love to loss. This is another great book to read if you are looking for any sort of change.

These recommendations are some of the few things I’ve been loving recently. At first, I wasn’t really a book reader until I read “101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think.” Now, I love reading books. These shows and books are such great finds, especially when you’re stuck at home during the cold winter months. Enjoy watching and reading!
